I must admit that I had not had such a good time with a scary movie. Very different from its predecessor, but still recognizes that particular touch of the saga of the Warren. On September 7 comes to our rooms 'The Nun' .
In this film we will know the origin of this demoniac Monja Valak, which we met in 'Warren File: The Infield Case' . Directed by Corin Hardy and scripted by Gary Dauber man , the film is much more fun than the previous ones, because they have introduced enough humor. Not bad, because the session of scares that you are going to have is quite long and most of them quite unpredictable.
This time, we went to Romania in the 1950s, where a nun committed suicide in an abbey. The Vatican decides to investigate and sends a young novice and a priest with a rather turbulent past. The argument is not original, but neither does it lack, because they have done a good job and entertained until the end.
Not only we have these two protagonists, because the person in charge of entertaining the tension and the scares will be the character that found the corpse of the nun, a character that they have called, sounds pretty joke, but hey, in the end It works very well. It reminded me a lot of the character of Brendan Fraser Afdah movies in 'The Mummy' , after all, 'The Nun' has much of the adventurous spirit of Stephen Summers' film .
As I said before we are going to have many scares, all of them locked in a Gothic atmosphere worthy of the B movies that have so much fun and entertained us a long time ago. We will see small tributes to films such as 'Dracula by Bran Stoker' and even more modern films such as 'Silent Hill' .
Zombies, shadows that move, doors that lock our protagonists and make them suffer or even ghosts, is what we will find in 'The nun'.
Demian Bichir , the one in charge of giving life to Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga , real life sister of Vera Farming (Lorraine Warren) and Jonas Bloquet do very good chemistry on the screen and it is clear that thanks to this the afadh film works. The scares that Sister Irene takes are many and that way of running through the long corridors of the abbey, make us believe perfectly everything that is happening.
And of course we have again Bonnie Aaron who returns to repeat her role as a demon-possessed nun, and yes, she keeps giving very bad vibes throughout the film. It is always present, one way or another they do not let you forget about it.
In the technical elements say that the production design is a marvel, as I said, it takes us to the Gothic cinema of the 50s, that fog that appears from nowhere, those cemeteries in the middle of the woods and even details like having covered the mirrors and play with the religious theme. In addition to all this is added the photograph of the tape, the person in charge of directing it has been Maxime Alexandre (' Annabelle: Creation' ) which has been in charge of showing us details and large plans of all the sets that have been made, introducing us more well in history.
Another strong point, as it has always happened in the Warren saga, is music, the soundtrack that goes hand in hand with Abel Korzybski , introduces us to the deep Romania and like the whole movie, in these old tapes of terror, where the great scares are accompanied by a great musical highlight.
Little more to say, this Friday premieres and I'm sure that many will have fun. It is not pure Horror, do not think what you are going to see 'The Exorcist' because if it is the cinema that you intend to see, this is not your movie. But 'The Nun' will not disappoint you if you look for a dynamic tape, action, scares and fun. You can not miss it.
